Ive seen a few sites using custom buffering animations is it possible to do with vshare and if so where?

This can be done by editing the Flash Player. You need to know Flash to do this.

There is a gif called loading_graphic.gif under templates\images. I believe flash is pulling this image in. You can try to edit this video (animated gif) and see if it will work for you

Nope that graphic is supposed to be the uploading graphic, that actual graphic you want to change is inside the player.swf
