How Access Mysql Data from the Templates??

I will try to explain: i am total noob, but a friend who knows about programing is doing some modifications for me in my vshare 2.6.

So, i really dont know what is it, but he said me to ask here in order to find the way (if possible) to access the mysql data from the templates.

Hope you can at least give me a hint that i can say to him.
