Default Solution for Youtube Video Import (Must Read)

    Hello All-

I have figured out a solution for youtube video import. As you all know when trying to import youtube video the URL is being cutoff. This is due to an enhancement youtube made from my understanding.

    Here is the work:

If you are familar with Databases you will find this easy:

    1. Open the database you are working with
    2. Then, open the Process Queue table
    3. Basiacally you can add there.
    4. Copy everything like you would on the import screen in your admin area to the new row you added in Process Quese then save and you are done.

The video will show up in your Queue and will process.

This actually woprks better because you can add as many as you want. Or you can create a big file in excel and import to the database.

I hope this makes sense to you. I am not a guru by any means with sort of stuff but I have done it and it works. So if someone else can better explain to others it may be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Ashley

oh....Almost forgot you will need to know the number of your channels. You can also pull this information from your database.

    My suggestion:

Put all your data in excel and do a mass import to your database.

So if I get you right what you are saying is:

    1. Copy URL of file into The URL section of the process_queue
    2. Add title, user, etc...
    3. Click Export and Job Done!

You got it! I have done it and it works. What happens is when you put it directly into the database the URL does not get cutoff.

    Does this makes Sense!

I think thing we can do to assist people is create an excel document in the correct for for everyone this way they can download put their information and and import to database.

    I've got a better idea!

I'm currently working on a system which will not only allow the admin to add videos this way but also normal users of the site.

I think this is a great solution.

It is a good idea. I'm getting by fine though with just downloading the video from youtube and uploading. It takes a couple of extra minutes, but not too long. It's not inconvenient or anything. I'll probably stick to this until the admin script gets a work around.
