Thought I'd start a thread about site promotion (in addition to posting your site in the "Showcase Your Site" forum here at buyscripts).

What do you do to promote your site?

One thing I've done so far is contact people at "the other guys" who have the same interest as what my niche is and invite them to post and if they don't want to, then I ask for permission to post their vides there myself. I also visit the forums at related communities and invite people to post to my site. Not in a spammish kind of way, it's forums that I'm already registered with and especially if someone posts about a video "at the other guys" I "mention" my site.

I have been trying to get other sites to link to me. I'd like to trade links, but there's nowhere to put the links. hmmm...This would be a good thinkg to have, a centrally administered links area ont he home page

you can edito most of the pages to add links. check footer.tpl and header.rpl good places to put links to other sites...

check out my footer. i just adder a new "page" from within the admin area and made that my links page.

Another way of putting links, I guess, would be to create a links page with the "page add on feature" in admin panel, and then put a link to the links page in the navigation.

I created a "Team Blog" page for mine (youtube has one so I thought maybe my site should too :wink: )

Or yeah, the footer/header is really good and more "visible" to the viewer.

I didn't stop with a links page. I put together an entire links directory that is fully automated. Right now I just have it as a stand-alone directory that isn't integrated into the vshare log in or anything, but it works good. You can get the script for free at dew-code.com

What about adding a Google Video Sitemap? I havn't done that yet but I think I might.

I only concentrated myself to quality traffic through quality backlinks.

I have seen great returns from google searches by submitting sitemap and video sitemap. http://www.thejesustv.com/sitemap_vs.html. I also have seen great traffic from bokmarking my content on sites such as digg.com and http://del.icio.us

Thanks. It seems to have worked ok, although it did generate a warning for the standard sitemap.

Warning 2 - Incorrect namespace
Your Sitemap or Sitemap index file doesn't properly declare the namespace.

Despite the warning, it seemed to pick everything up.
