Mobile Phone support
I would like to see support added for mobile phones, just like the way youytube does it.
Maybe link to a moble phone in the setting of the profile page
and then everytime a user wants to watch a video on a phone, the video page redirects to the mobile size of the page.

Re: Mobile Phone support
I am developing a mod for vShare which allows users to view videos on a Mobile Phone. If anyone's interested in buying this mod (would be cheap, similar to the other mods, 10-15$ range) please let me know. If there is enough interest I'll release it as soon as it is finished.

Re: Mobile Phone support
Hey guys and gals,
Just thought I'd let you know the prototype is almost ready.
The videos have to be converted to 3GP/3GP2 format (3GP-Third Generation Partnership Project: http://www.3gpp.org/) which is only partially supported by FFMPEG, the underlying video conversion facility that drives vShare.
The last thing I'm working on is an automatic conversion of files to 3GP... the only thing missing here is the ability to stream in a mobile-supported format, and this is where there is lots of problems because of different handset models supporting different formats. There's a war going on between handset manufacturers on this one (Apple iPhone, RIM Blackberry, Nokia smartphones, etc...)
Overall, a video streamed over RTSP http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2326.txt (as in YouTube Mobile), will work on supposedly 70-80% of Mobile Video capable handsets, depending on carrier restrictions (some, like here in Canada, try to monopolize mobile video, and may block videos for certain regions/handsets... ugggh don't get me started on that). For streaming RTSP you will need a hosting service that also provides an installation of an open source streaming server like Darwin Streaming Server, HELIX or VLC MediaPlayer even has its own RTSP/RTMP Server. There are other commercial solutions available as well.
Anyway, enough talk, you can see a demo at http://bcmoney-mobiletv.com/m, however keep in mind this is just a proof-of-concept, really just a mobile shell for your vShare. Minimize your browser size and drag to decrease the width for proper effect, or pull it up on your Mobile and tell me how it looks... My tests through friends on a European (Swiss Telekom) Nokia 6275i, Japanese Toshiba & Sanyo(NTT network), South Korean Samsung (SK Telecom), and Canadian RIM Blackberry 8030 (Rogers) & Motorola RAZR (BELL) all provided a consistent view so far. Anyone in US that can test it?!?!
A cool feature is that if you hit the #1, #2, #3, etc... it would pull up that video, likewise #0 will bring you to the search form, * sends you backwards through your video directory and #(pound) sends you forwards. All of these don't work on Apple's iPhone, but at 1 million handsets .vs. 3 billion handsets worldwide, don't worry about that so much guys. That said, iPhone users are known to be heavy spenders and early adopters for data services, so I'm thinking up an iPhone menu too at http://bcmoney-mobiletv.com/i. (works only on Safari or Firefox browsers) It's lower priority though...
I've also connected mine to YouTube Mobile, which may or may not be part of the mod (depending on YouTube permissions & the author of original YouTube API classes). I will also take care to validate the page to xHTML 1.0 Transitional at least, since that is required by some handsets to ensure consistent presentation.
So thanks for the responses everyone, I should have something ready by the end of the month (working prototype) and for packaged mod by end of summer.
Cheers,
bcmoney
