Move and Upgrade: looking for best practice

Ok, I'm running v2.2 still on my site. It's performing well and I have been putting up the upgrade for too long.
Now I'm moving to a new server (VPS) and will make the effort of upgrading at the same time.

So, my first thought was to install v2.6 fresh and that's what I have done now.
It's now working fine on the new server and it's time to move the content.

But this is where I hesitate....

What's best practice here ?

A) First move current v2.2 site to new server and then upload new files and overwrite exisiting with v2.6 ?
B ) Install v2.6 on new server and then move content ?

Which is easiest ? Upload from v2.2 or move content and have all info intact ?
Is it even possible to simply overwrite with v2.6 files, what about upgrading the DB ? Any problems with content in it already ?

I suggest you to move the site to new server first, then get everything work as in old server.

Now you can do upgrade to version 2.6. You have to do multiple upgrades are you are using v2.2, if that is difficult for you, contact [email protected], they will do upgrade to latest version for $5

Biggest problem will be to find the upgrade packages.

I'm using 2.1 Release: 20070625 and have many steps to do...
