Adding swf files

Couple things I would like to know how to set up. First, I'm having trouble loading video from my hard drive. I've been able to load one file from YouTube but not much luck other than that. Getting brain cramps trying to figure it out. Also, I would like to be able to upload swf files so I hope you can give me a little guidance.
