fresh install vshare login shows 404 error. Can't upload either.

still trying to get this script running on a local ubuntu server.

New installation goes fine

When I try to use the vshare user login
at http://server/vshare/login.php

The server responds with 404 because the path changes
to http://server/vshare/vshare

if I back the address up to http://server/vshare
I see that the use vshare is logged in.
Videos uploaded from there do not work.

I checked the paths in the config.php
they are:
/var/www/vshare
http://server/vshare

And, of course, I am still unable to upload videos.
The videos simply don't upload to the server.

I cannot give you the ftp and username. We are in a public school district behind a firewall and the ports are blocked. No FTP allowed in.
I realize that that all of these installation issues are perfect opportunities
to offer your hosting services, but we are not going that route. We must
keep the hosting in house.


I have followed the requirements here:

I installed all the modules.
I checked the paths to the binaries during the installation.
I have checked the paths in the config.php

How do I fix the login problem?
How do I get the videos to upload?

reupload .htaccess

the .htaccess was already there and it was fine.
However, that got me going to the idea that the the .htaccess override was misconfigured in apache.

This also fixes the path of the cgi-bin directory to match the actual location under the vshare directory and the "AddHandler cgi-script cgi pl" linealso helped to get the uploader progress bar to work.
