Then what is the payment option (charging people to watch videos, mostly done by porn sites) that comes with the script for if not to profit off this script?
I should tie up this loose end... "profiting" from the script is one thing. You have made some decent contributions at a decent price. But when others take that and run with it, or sell a $100 "mod" for a $10 script, I call that profiteering.
Re: Offer Your OWN Toolbar for your Site and Make money !
I'll tie up a loose end too.
First I want to say TY for the compliment.
Knowledge is power and time is money and there is the freedom of choice. If one doesn't like the price of something, they have choices...bite the bullet and purchase it at the asking price (which is driven by supply and demand) OR one can seek the knowledge and do it themselves.
Once they go to seek the knowledge, they will see just what is involved, not only for producing the product, but the time and effort it takes to gain the knowledge to produce it.
Time is money. Gaining the knowledge takes time and then putting this knowledge to work takes time. What is one's time worth? I know what my time is worth. I way undersell my products because I want them to be affordable to the general public and to discourage piracy as I believe high prices only encourages piracy. Do I make money? Absolutely not. I loose money, but this is my hobby and I love what I do.
The initial cost of the script, IMHO is irrelevant. What the makers charge is their business. How they can sell it for the price they do probably largely depends on the economic situation where they live...like if I bought shoes for $2 overseas, I can sell them for 10 times that amount elsewhere. I guess, then, by your definition, that any corporation that buys overseas and resells world wide for 10 times the price are "profiteers" and should be tared and feathered. At least that's the impression I get.

Just to go back to the original topic for a moment...
Does anyone actually download these things? There are few things I dislike more than having more toolbars cluttering my browser. About the only way I ever get one installed is when it is done without my consent, such as with a Y! Messenger upgrade, and the first thing I do (after muttering a few obscenities) is to delete it. I can think of only one time when I intentionally installed a toolbar, and that was for Stumble Upon.
So what I'm wondering here is if you get enough people actually using this thing to make it worth the time that you put into it.
Re: Offer Your OWN Toolbar for your Site and Make money !
I'm with you. I don't install ToolBars AT ALL.
Re: Offer Your OWN Toolbar for your Site and Make money !
Hey,,
I just through it out there, don't like it, dont use it.
It's free, has alot you can do with it, and why not offer something free to all your site members? It's all your content, videos, links etc etc.
Kinda thinking it was a mistake to even post it at this point?

Well, I have had pretty decent success with mine. I have had about 1400 installations. I have about 100 active users and that make about 1-2 dollars a day. It was easy to setup and I get new users everyday. For me it was worth it. I think it all depends on your sites content and the type of visitors that your site gets. My sites lend themselves to the use of the toolbar so it works for me.

I think is great to share it, but it was the way you did it.
I mean telling people to install your toolbar so they can get their own was a bit deceptive to me. I don't even really see the point since most of them are just going to remove yours once they figure it out.
I also caught your "profiteering" comment. I am not sure where you are from, but I am from the US and I am accustom to the way capitalism works. I have put the work into getting my mods to work for vshare and if I wanted to charge 1,000,000 dollars for them that would be my prerogative. Things are only worth what someone is willing to pay and so far people have been more than willing.

Its certainly not a mistake. A free tool is always worth letting people know about. I was just wondering if people really use it. I've never offered one so I only know what my personal habits are, which is to not use them. I know that I'm not representative of the internet as a whole, so I just wanted to ask.
