I'm happy to say that I had no trouble with this one. I followed the instructions in the original post, and everything works like a charm.
Actually, I was really surprised with the level of detail that this tool provides. I had envisioned it as being a simple status bar that gave no extra information.
Ive seen to installs both running different versions of cpanels that have trouble with the upload bar.

I guess I should also say that I am using plesk as my control panel. Any suggestions on getting this thing going?

For those of you who may have missed it, here's a great idea for it which was posted here: http://forums.buyscripts.in/viewtopic.php?p=5402 about adding content to the blank page that appears while the video is being processed.
Plesk has proved to be a real pain in the arse. It seems to be some problem with the url part example home/username/public_html/video cpanels url but plesks is dodgy. Dunno why it causes it though.
turtle, i don't know what is meant by using plesk control panel...are you not uploading the files with FTP and doing the chmod thing? If not, can you?
Plesk is not good as Cpanel, Godaddy provide it with VPS.Quote:

When using Plesk make sure Safe Mode is OFF and open_base_dir is not set, some times, they are set and create problems. Also cgi-bin is outside the httpdocs folder.
I did everything based on your postings - but still getting this error message.

It seems your uu_default_config.pm is corrupted.
Use the one provided with vshare zip, modify it. When modifying becarefull as you are modifying a perl script, if you do some thing that break syntax of perl script, it will not work. Use notepad to edit, not MS Word or similar editor.
If nothing works, upload the file to your public_html and provide the link to that file, so i can check if your modifications are proper.
I am at my whit's end with this. I have tried EVERYTHING
the upload progress bar will just not work for me.
I used the path from my server (im using plesk) and the shit wonk work /var/www/vhosts/<SiteNamehere>/httpdocs/
i keep getting 500 internal server error.
i checked the 2 variables you said to and it still says that.
What can i be missing. Zeffer also tried to do it and to no avail
First, delete all vshare files from your cgi-bin.
Then upload all files to your cgi-bin (do not modify any files).
chmod 755 all .pl files
Then go to
http://duttyclips.com/cgi-bin/uu_upload.pl
If perl is enabled on your server, you should not get "internal server error".

perl files can be uploaded in ASCII too.
well it would seem that perl may not be enabled but i just jumped on my server and perl is there on /usr/bin/perl
so I am lost...and clueless

Zeffer is pretty good...it's probably a host issue then. Keep hounding tech support till they resolve it. Maybe they have the wrong version of perl or it's not installed correctly or corrupt or something...maybe the chmod is messed up. Keep at them till this works 'cos it should work and if not, then seek a different host (I would).
When i enable the upload progress bar, why after each upload i have a forbidden page ?
Even if uu_ini_status.pl and uu_upload.pl file are chmod to 755. I also tried to chmod them to 777 but I still have that same forbidden page error when it redirect to upload.php after the upload is done.

karlmay, try uploading in ASCII mode instead of binary and see if that doesn't help. I was having issues till I uploaded in ASCII and set it to 755, after that it worked fine.

It's wired it seems to be blocked (the CGI-BIN folder) i can't accec it throu the web browser it says me that i don't have permissions to go in side.
but i ve given 777 ...
any idea please ??? is there any setting to do in Cpanel to active CGI folder ??

Make sure y'all have the right settings in the uu_default_config.pm Open it and double check...one small thing out of place and it will explode.
Try uploading in ASCII and chmod to 755. All these things worked for me, hopefully they will for you too.

I just had a problem with the progress bar for the first time. It sat there saying "initializing progress bar" for a long time and then it said
Error: 12002 Unknown
What would cause that?(however it did continue on to the uu_upload.pl)

i worked through the postings more than once, but cant figure out the issue.
I was just stating that i'm not using cpanel in case that was the root of my problem. I uploaded all files in binary using ftp...and chmod'ed them all. The progress bar worked when I first installed, but now it doesn't. I just don't understand what could have changed. It is frustrating because now I get no status or bar. If admin could try uploading a vid and tell me what is going on I would really appreciate it!Quote:

Check if perl scripts work on your server. If you access the perl script, it should show a page likeQuote:

If not, you have problem with running perl script on the server.
whenever your prowser asks you if you want to download a file you should restart your server. It does that every so ofter with Vshare if you dont have your server set to restart every night.
Here is what my upload page looks like during an upload. You can see it has been loading the vid for 12mins with no bar and no status:

The weird thing is that the upload bar was working but videos weren't converting....I had hostonnet.com fix my conversion but after the fix the upload bar never worked again. What do you think caused the problem?
What must i do to get the Progressbar work/show on the latest Vshare?

i just asked and I do have perl working on my site but the upload progress bar doesnt work still.
ive been told to upload in ascii and to upload in binary just to see what was wrong and also so check the permissions on the folder ... still not working ... also make sure the perl script folder is the cgi-bin
I just did a fresh install on a clean server and am stuck with the internal error also, i dunno if its cos the cron hasnt been given a task output yet or if its a buggy file, but its to do with the newest versions files.
you need to have your server admin or hosting company make sure that perl scripts can run on your site.
SOLUTION TO UPLOAD PROBLEMS:
After 2 days of trial and error I found a solution to the progress bar not appearing.
Basicly follow the guide amin has set out at the beggining of this post.
Then also set these files to 777 chmod
include > settings > upload.php
include > settings > uu_conlib.php
If your cgi-bin is like this one - place the files here and cmod all to 755:
apache/sites/YOURSITE.com/cgi-bin/
Then open:
include > settings > uu_conlib.php
Find on line 25,26:
$path_to_upload_script = $config["baseurl"] . '/cgi-bin/uu_upload.pl';
$path_to_ini_status_script = $config["baseurl"] . '/cgi-bin/uu_ini_status.pl';
Change to:
$path_to_upload_script = '/cgi-bin/uu_upload.pl';
$path_to_ini_status_script = '/cgi-bin/uu_ini_status.pl';
You should be right after that:)
