I still am having a problem getting the RSS feeds to feed to my other websites, is it still bugged or am i doing it wrong?
Mine works like it should.
Enter your RSS URL in here:
http://www.scriptol.com/rss/rss-single.php
and click submit, you'll get a list of the latest uploaded videos on your site.
Your site has been blocked here now, so I can't check if yours is working too...
We got it working after a bit, is working ok atm. We are just feeding the RSS to a few of our other sites/
OK, total n0ob question here.
I'm not understanding the RSS FEED thingie. When I click on the RSS feed button in the upper right hand side of the page, I get a page with a bunch of code. Is this what it's supposed to do? Do I copy that code for use in my other websites or how does this RSS thing work?
If I'm not supposed to be seeing a bunch of code, what should I be seeing?
Nah you copy the shortcut xml usually into where you want the rss to show up.
OK, how do I get the RSS to show up? I don't understand what I'm supposed to do....
Are you tring to put the rss into another one of your websites or are you puttn your rss into a rss website submitter?
Here, copy n paste your feed URL here. It's a test page I built just to check sponsor feeds. You can change the number of items displayed by using the dropdown. The default is 4
WARNING - THIS IS AN ADULT SITE

Hey that looks like it will be a nice site HE
I have no clue what you mean cos I have no clue how RSS is actually used. I tried googling it, but everything is so "techno-speak" that I get confused.Code:Are you tring to put the rss into another one of your websites or are you puttn your rss into a rss website submitter?
Part 1: Am I trying to put the rss into another website? Well, no, but if I was, how would I go about it?
Part 2: Am I putting my RSS into an RSS website submitter? No, I have no idea what an RSS submitter is, but I'll google that too.
I'd love to check out your example but it's an adult site and I don't "do" adult sites, sorry.
There's nothing adult on that page, it's a blank page except for the RSS tool.
It took me to a form to put in a URL and there's a picture there. it's not exactely "blank" LOL.
I'd like to use this one instead:
but I don't know what "URL" to put in there for my vShare site. When I put in my domain, it gives me all error messages.Quote:
Any of these should work grynmoors

All you do mate is right click the rss jpg on your site go to 'copy shortcut' or 'copy adress' and paste it into his site.
WooHoo! Thankies thankies thankies (and btw, I'm a "sheila"--hehe)!! I got a page with links! Yay!
Now, how do I put a link in another website for this to do it's thing?
Hehe a sheila oz? Lol you can go around the net looking for rss feed places that accept the feed or theres alot of places like zimbio that have little blogging spots where you can do a blog and drop in your rss feed.
HEHE no I'm not in oz but when you said "m8" I assumed you was in oz. I'm just a simple granny residing in the country in the US.
Great about the blog thing, but I have other websites of my own (mostly hobby sites)...which is where I really want to use this RSS thing...what is the code that I would need to use on the other sites, in the html, to get it to show this RSS thing on that site? Or is that possible? I'm pretty sure my webhost will allow it, I just don't know how to implement it.
YaY! I FINALLY found the answer to my question! Maybe I wasn't phrasing my question correctly but....
...this is exactely what I was looking for (asking about):
RSS FEED INTEGRATION
http://www.rss-info.com/en_rssinclude-simple.html
Here is a site that has PHP code to do something similar to what you want...
http://www.codewalkers.com/c/a/Conte...t-Code/PHPRSS/
I am using it at one of my sites... BharatStars.com to get data from my vshare site: Alternate Venue
Cool, what page are you using it on and can someone help me? I don't know PHP and this script looks complicated (I don't see instructions for using it on their site) and I want to try it out...where do you put in the URL for the RSS feed?
I was going to use it on one of my other sites but I have not linked it in yet...
If you want to see what it produces it is here:
BharatStars.com/RSSAltVenue.php
In the code (use the Get Source Link in the article), look for the line with the RSS file and just change it. The rest is to just render it.
Shantul.
Yes, the first thing I did was get the source code and I tried to look for the line where I should be putting in the URL to my RSS feed, but I don't know what line it is.Quote:

Would you be so kind as to copy and paste the line that needs to be changed? Would much appreciate it and how does one go about rendering it? I know I'm sounding like a total n0ob but this is all Greek to me.
Thankies.
They seemed to have changed the link since I was there last... Here is the code I am using. Please note the variable called $RSSFile about 4 lines down...
<table width=100%><tr><td width=100%>
<h2><a href=http://www.AltVenue.com>Currently on AltVenue.com</a></h2>
<dl>
<?php
$RSSFile = "http://www.altvenue.com/rss.php";
$insideitem = false;
$tag = "";
$title = "";
$description = "";
$link = "";
function startElement($parser, $name, $attrs) {
global $insideitem, $tag, $title, $description, $link;
if ($insideitem) {
$tag = $name;
} elseif ($name == "ITEM") {
$insideitem = true;
}
}
function endElement($parser, $name) {
global $insideitem, $tag, $title, $description, $link;
if ($name == "ITEM") {
printf("<dt>%s</dt>",
trim($link),htmlspecialchars(trim($title)));
//printf("<dd>%s</dd>",htmlspecialchars(trim($description)));
printf("<dd>%s</dd>",trim($description));
$title = "";
$description = "";
$link = "";
$insideitem = false;
}
}
function characterData($parser, $data) {
global $insideitem, $tag, $title, $description, $link;
if ($insideitem) {
switch ($tag) {
case "TITLE":
$title .= $data;
break;
case "DESCRIPTION":
$description .= $data;
break;
case "LINK":
$link .= $data;
break;
}
}
}
$xml_parser = xml_parser_create();
xml_set_element_handler($xml_parser, "startElement", "endElement");
xml_set_character_data_handler($xml_parser, "characterData");
$fp = fopen($RSSFile,"r")
or die("Error reading RSS data.");
while ($data = fread($fp, 4096))
xml_parse($xml_parser, $data, feof($fp))
or die(sprintf("XML error: %s at line %d",
xml_error_string(xml_get_error_code($xml_parser)),
xml_get_current_line_number($xml_parser)));
fclose($fp);
xml_parser_free($xml_parser);
?>
</dl>
</td></tr></table>
AWESOME!!! Thankies!!!
Oh poopie, what you sent is for PHP (which is freaking awesome btw) and the pages I want to put the integration on is HTML, so it looks like I have to stick with the RSS Integration thingie. But I've copied and pasted the code for future reference.
Now, another issue has arisen. The RSS integration has been working just fine until today when I uploaded new videos and they're not showing up on the site that has the integration. It's only showing that last videos I uploaded from several days ago, not the new ones I just did. What would cause the RSS to "all of a sudden" not work? And yes, in the rss/new the new videos are there (so it's not an issue with vshare script cos that part's working).
UPDATE: I think I got it. Aparantly I have to include "new.xml" when entering the URL into the form.
Good work nightmage,
This work very good on my site.
You can see it here:

edit: Why is the BBCode doesnt work for me ?

My BBCode is OFF too. It's a setting that admin has to "turn on".
