Import Video from URL for vShare 2.1 Release: 20070625

You can now download video from url and add to your site.

unzip and upload to your server in BINARY mode. After doing this, login to admin (you may need to clear cache in your browser), you will see a new link "Import Video".

To import a video, you need to provide url to the video file. With this feature, you can now upload video with FTP to a web accessible folder, then use the url to add the video to your web site.

To import video from sites like YouTube.com, you need to find video url first. You can use sites like http://keepvid.com to find url of the video file.

Current version of import script only work if the file download url have a valid file extension (google video do not have this, some youtube video is from google).

You can only use this if you are using vShare release: 20070625, if you are using older version, it can break your site, so first upgrade to latest release.

Very nice feature Admin .. well done. Will this ever be part of the user upload area? rather than only admin?

We have not yet planned to include this in user upload page. If we allow users to upload from url, it can overload the server by doing multiple uploads at a time as video conversion take lot of CPU.

OK fair enough, that makes sense .. could uploads be queued in any way? I'm not a coder so I wouldn't know. Still a great feature all the same if not :)

I'm not seeing the link for some reason. Whereabouts in the admin control panel is it?

Left hand side in video management bottom. It will only be there if you updated the script.

How can i check which release i am using????

Curious. Uploaded (in binary), flushed cache, still not seeing it.
