Thread: Uploading and File Size Increase

Default Uploading and File Size Increase

I was wondering if someone had any fixes for the file increase size? What I'm looking for is to get beyond the 100MB limit to the file size. I have several videos which are bigger than the 100MB allowable and I'd like to not have to split them in order to upload. Where would I go to do that increase?

Also, when I upload, the video shows in the admin panel as it is there, but it's not sowing up in the main page under the username. The video is right on the 100MB limit. I thought too it might be the fact when I named it, it was in this format: Title -- 05 22 2008. So I changed the title to: title05222008, but that still isn't working. Could anyone help with that? Also, when I upload, the confirmation screen says the video has been added, but there is no link to the page where the video is supposed to be and no video when I go to the homepage.

    Thanks in advance.

to check your actual upload limit check www.yoursite.com/phpinfo.php

there should be a field that has your upload limit.

you can change that limit to what ever you want. You will also have to change the other limits that correspond to it on your server. These Values can be found in your php.ini on your server. (RAM limit etc)

when u make these changes you can then go to the .tpl file that corresponds to upload and then change the 100mb verbage to your number that you just changed it to

    hope this helps

Thanks for the information. I really do appreciate that. Perhaps if I change the file size limit, the videos might appear. I did check the limit and it said 200MB, but there is no way to change that in the phpinfo.php file. All it has is the php include coding, nothing else.

oh you dont actualy change the phpinfo.php coding...
That file is just used to tell you what your server setting are.

    You change those values by

    1) loggin into your server
    2) locating your currently used php.ini file
    3) modify it with the VII editor by looking for the line that has MAX_UPLOAD_LIMIT or something to that effect...
    4) save it and restart the server then check the phpinfo.php to ensure that the setting was changed.

Thank you so much for both responses. I really do appreciate it. Though how does one ''restart' the server? I'm on Crayonhost.com and I haven't a clue as to how to do this.

Also, why wouldn't my videos be showing up on my site? My url is:
    http://obscure-media.com

And any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'shared hosting'. I know I'm on http://crayonhost.net and that I've paid for the server, but again, I'm not sure if it's a dedicated server or not. I know a friend of mine directed me to Crayonhost.net when she bought the vshare program. That's why I chose that one.

I'm sorry if I'm a bit of a dunce, but I'm pretty new to this Youtube Clone/vshare program. Is there any other information I can share with you here for me to answer your questions?

I'm paying for the lower end package. I may upgrade depending on how much space I end up using. But for now, this is what I bought. The entire package plus the domain was $14.99 US. I live in Canada so it was a little more in Can funds.

The packages are pretty good from what I've seen. The highest payment option is about $9.99 per month. Pretty good I'd say.
