Default www.fastmetal.tv - Fast cars, bikes, planes, crashes

The reskin of http://www.fastmetal.tv is now finished and online. 12/25/07

There are still a few small bugs to work out of the templates and java, also maybe a photoshop rendition of the main logo should be in the pipeline as the lettering is a bit pixelated at the edges - however the site's all go.

My sincere thanks to Joshua ave (his forum name) for politely asking me to get my act together and make my site look a little more professional so that the users could enjoy it a bit more.
Johsua also gave me lots of ideas and input in everything from the carbon fibre look and the layout - to the site colours. His honesty, professionalism and diplomacy were invaluable.

Thanks also to Grynmoors for the thread on search code - I really needed to get that search bar out of the main page.

The side video feed is also going to come in for some attention soon so that users can drop the volume and not have it affected by the main view volume controls.

If any of you have ideas on anything that you can see I've done badly wrong or needs improving - let me have it!

    Cheers

I've cut the time display for recent vids in preparation for the upcoming press release. Probably a good idea for all sites that don't want people coming on and seeing that a site hasn't been used for a couple of hours during slow periods. It sends the wrong message.
Simple - just a bit of code to delete in index.tpl

LOVE the moving "recent" videos thing, just like what YouTube has and great tip about the time factor. You're right, it's discouraging to visit a site and see that nothing's been viewed for more than 24 hours.

    Thanx for the positive comment.
The flashy video thing is courtesy of Mat (galnet) just in case you hadn't picked up the string, it's a great little script that he's produced.

    Thanx again

Looks great. What I like most is how you listed the channels right across the top. I sometimes wonder how many times a person has to visit a site before they actually click the Channels link. For example, I was going to YouTube for at least 6 months before I clicked theirs. They way you have laid it out makes it much more likely that someone will quickly find what interests them the most.

    Hey there SportsGamingTV.
    Thanx for the positive comment.
I was thinking of setting it up so that it shows little folder icons with the channel names on - but I still haven't decided.
Feel free to copy the code if you think that you might benefit from it.

On the new site that I'm working on at the moment I've labeled the channels button as 'Browse' and the watch button as 'Recent'. Hopefully it'll be clearer. I had fastmetal.tv running for nearly 3 months before I even clicked the Watch button. It just didn't register so I didn't realize what it was.
After all it is as you infer, navigation has to be easy.

    Thanx again.

why you charge so much on advert for setting up video new site on sastmetal. I have seen this is software for ten dollars here. You cheat people. So your site good looking but why so much you are charging.
