Default Can I keep it like that or will it effect future releases?

i'm trying to make this short as possible so I can actually get the answer.

i got the error yesterday that my index.php was corrupt as well as channels, groups, upload.php etc.

forum post said to replace the files with backup copies. so I did and it fixed things so it seems but

    now admin area says

 You are using OLD version of vShare, you must upgrade.

all the files i used to replace came from the zip file from the latest update in august. except for channels.php because it wasn't in there.

although everything seems the same as before this is the only thing that is different after restoreing files.

Can I keep it like that or will it effect future releases?

    Default

Upgrade package include only changed files. So just uploading the files (it will ask you to overwrite the files as most of the files already on your server).

Then you need to run upgrade.php and also set CRONJOB as per in upgrade instructions.
