This is generated by ffmpeg/mplayer from the video. You can't change quality unless you have a better tool to do the thumbnail extraction. You can change size of thumbnails, that may make thumbnails looks better.

It seems to me that a small image just stretched because of poor quality. Which files are responsible for Toombs

Where you can adjust the size of generated thumb, how to replace a player, just pour over the existing, or you need something else? On other sites the quality is good!

To change thumbnail size, you need to modify sconfig table in MYSQL database.

    img_max_width
    img_max_height

Also, you need to adjust site lay out to accomodate new resized images.

Upgrading player may need change in include/player.inc file.

You have to re-create thumbnails from admin area.

Have you checked the image size ? Not what you see in the web site.

When images are shown on web site, it will be resized using CSS to fit in site lay out properly. So after you regenerate the image, clear cache, access image directly to see the image size.

Now you will need to update web site layout (CSS and tpl) files, so that web site work with new thumbnail size.
