Signup Verification still flawed in 2.4

In 2.3 Signup Verification only used to come up when the user tried to upload a video with the confirm email page. Now i notice it comes up as soon as a user signs up instead of taking them to the invite_signup page.

This doesn't really solve anything as although it doesn't say they are logged in they can still post comments, send messages to users, rate videos etc without confirming there email.

The best way to have it would be that when they sign up they are taken to the invite_signup page like it used to do but they are not able to post comments, send messages, rate videos, join groups etc until they have confirmed there email. The only page they should be able to make changes to is there own profile so that they can change there email address incase they typed it wrong on signup.

Nicely put Leki, I did notice that the confirmation link in the email didn't really work as a confirmation should - users have same access privileges even if they don't click the confirmation link. As it stands, it is pretty much useless.
