Thread: Problems with uploading (converting) .wmv files.

  1. #1

Default Problems with uploading (converting) .wmv files.

I'm using Imageleet's hosting. I reinstalled the latest version of vshare. I think that the paths that I used to install it must be right, because I took them from their FAQ: http://imageleet.com/faq.php
I uploaded 5 videos (size 2-5 MB) and had no problems with .mpg files.

After uploading a .wmv video, vhare takes me to a page, that say's: "Your video was successfully added!
Your video is currently being processed and will be available to view in a few minutes. "

Process queue is "Convert Error" and I can see all the 5 movies in the "video" folder, with my ftp program.
My upload progress bar is disabled. There are only 2 .flv files created in the flvideo folder (from .mpg files).
In admin area's miscellaneous settings video processing is set to "Realtime processing".

    The content of debug.txt is:
    2007-09-12 9:05:02 Running cron.php

    2007-09-12 9:05:02 CRON: 1

Is it a bug or something else? How could I get my portal working?

I've actually been having the exact same problems. .avi files work fine, but .wmv files don't convert. I was assuming that this was a problem with my mencoder or something, but maybe it's a vshare problem. I wonder if this has something to do with the new cronjob setting that was added in version 2.4. I haven't set cronjob and am still doing everything the same as before the 2.4 upgrade. Do I need to switch over to get everything working right?

I have set the cronjob by the way.

    Delete templates_c/debug.txt

Now upload a video as user, then post content of debug.txt

NO need to run cron, its only for video import, now forget about cron, get the upload working.

Mostly, your problem is with video conversion, so upload a video and post content of debug.txt

    See FAQ

Video not getting converted to flv

    OK, here's what I got in debug.txt:

mencoder installed on your server is not able to conver the video.

The command used to convert video is

    Code:
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/home/juliemstone/lib; /home/juliemstone/bin/mencoder /home/juliemstone/videos.trailerspy.com/movies/video/wdigm.wmv -o /home/juliemstone/videos.trailerspy.com/movies/flvideo/1189626476288503589.flv -of lavf -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:br=56 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=flv:vbitrate=500:mbd=2:mv0:trell:v4mv:cbp:last_pred=3 -srate 22050 -lavfopts i_certify_that_my_video_stream_does_not_use_b_frames
If that works, you will see the video converted to FLV format at

    /home/juliemstone/videos.trailerspy.com/movies/flvideo/1189626476288503589.flv

So what should I do about the mencoder? Fix? Reinstall? Replace?

Mostly this is due to faulty mencoder installation and may need reinstallation. Are you using latest version of mencoder ? If you are using SVN version, you can ask in mencoder mailing list.

Thanks for your quick replies...I will try reinstalling the mencoder and see what happens.

The convert command must have been sucessful, because I can see the /home/videotwi/public_html/ee/flvideo/1189667988491199936.flv file.

Now if I go to my user page in vshare (http://www.videotwink.com/ee/vshare), I can see the 1189667988491199936.flv file's thumbnail, but it is not loading: http://www.videotwink.com/ee/view/3/test6/
If I click to the http://www.videotwink.com/ee/recent/ page, then I can not see the thumbnail.

After deleting the debug.txt, process queue for .wmv files is "Convert Started".
