Uploading Video

I am trying to upload videos, but they don't seem to work. If they actually display after uploading, they don't play.
Most of the time, I will upload a video and in the admin section it says error converting.
I have searched through this forum and have tried all of the suggestions, but with no luck.

You have problem with some video only ? Not all video codecs are supported by mencoder/ffmpeg. So you need to verify the video works on other sites. Delete templates/debug.txt, upload a video, then post content of debug.txt file here.

But even the videos that show up, they don't play at all, and it's not constant as to which ones. I could try uploading the same video and at times it may actually appear on the site (but won't play) and other times it doesn't show up at all

Reason for not playing is video not getting converted to FLV format. You need to check templates/debug.txt and see on which step it stops.
