    Default Package feature bugs

ok i decided to enable the package feature and have a play with it, here are the current bugs and problems i have found so far with it.

Since enabling it all current users now go to the "Your Account is Expired - Renew Now!" package selection page. New signups can view videos but when they log out and try to log back in they get the "Your Account is Expired - Renew Now!" package screen too. There seems to be no way around this unless they pay. i have set the "free trial" package settings high but still i get the same problem. This may be due to the "Expired Date" being Dec 31, 1969 in the admin user info.

I wanted to create another free package option, for example "Another 7 days free trial" which last for 7 days for when the main free trial was finished, however i notice you can only choose months or years so i just used month for now. I put the price as $0 for the package but it still needs paypal payment for it. How can i make it free so that users can keep choosing the free package option when it expires for as long as they want and only choose a pay package when they want to?

Bandwidth and space calculations are wrong, if a user uploads a 50MB WMV file which is then converted to a 25MB FLV file it says the user has used up 50MB of space and everytime he watches the clip it says he used 50MB of bandwidth in the admin user info. The problem is its taking the size of the orginal file for the space and bandwidth calculations instead of the converted FLV.

Also everytime the user opens the page with the 50MB clip on it would use up his bandwidth, if the page didn't display correctly the first time and he refreshed he would be charged with another 50MB bandwidth. if he then decided not to click play and view the clip he would still have been charged a total of 100MB bandwidth even though he never really used any bandwidth!

If the user has 5 videos and deletes 1 of them then it still says he is using 5 videos instead of 4 in the admin user info.

In the admin user info its not possible to change the package settings or reset bandwidth etc for the user.

is there any fix for this?
    Thanks

mismo you should just go buy clipshare. the rest of us are more than happy to wait for the admin (who works his arse off, helping) to slowly iron out bugs.

How do you know, that the admin is working with this issue? Most of the vshare users don't use packet's at all.

Clipshare is more expensive. Maybe they have some bugs like this too, how should I know, that their software is really better?

The admin is always working on something most of the time trying to answer questions and help people on their servers. For a 10 dollar script im pretty sure you wouldnt find better help any where.

Our programmers are working on the bugs and new features. Most of the scripts, you will see some kind of bugs, we too have bugs, we are working on to fix them, It take some time to fix all the bugs.

I've been looking into this bug, and I've found that it starts in the login.php page.

I've got reason to belive that it is in the coding which pulls the Users UID from the database.

Why do I think this... well if you look at the URL when passing information between pages the coding for the users UID is incorrect straight after the login.php page when Enable Packages is turned on.

I am a PHP and MySQL programmer but unfortuantly do not have a non encrypted version of all the pages which deals from login.php right through to pmt_success.php.

If the admin could be kind enough to provide me all the pages which deals with payments I would be more than happy to have a look and see where the issue lies and correct it. I would be happy to sign anything stating that I would not pass on or use the coding without vShare's permission.

You know, I'd be happy to pay $10 every MONTH for this script and all the work and updates that go in to it.

heh actually, I think in the last two months I bought three licences for the script, and added two "vshare.in" link removals as well.

I got ripped off by another site that has a script similar to this one, but much more expensive. No support, no answers to email, and worst of all they WELCHED on their "Money Back Guarantee" so now I either have to go through the chargeback process with my bank or figure out on my own how to muddle through their script.

Believe me - the value you get here is not to be found anywhere else. And I have no connection whatsoever to this except that I believe in this group and have seen that they mean business when they talk about developing this script and keeping support flowing here. I've seen nothing here but major improvements and total responsiveness to bug reports via this board and by IM. THAT is exactly what I want when I consider not the $10 cost of the script, but the thought of being in this BUSINESS long term.

I see these guys as my long term partners in my business, developing this product. No matter what the cost of the script, it's only as good as the people behind it.

I try to answer as many questions here as I'm able, because I know it's one less thing for admin to have to work on other than improving the script.

Every "duh.... I spent the ten bucks, now why can't I get the script running on my Kaypro 64 running CP/M" is another ten minutes wasted for everyone. People need to READ THE REQUIREMENTS before they buy. But they don't and they expect admin to figure it all out for them for $10.

Really been holding my tongue with a couple people here. I figure if admin isn't going off on anyone, what right do I have to?? 8)

I'll get off my Frickin' soapbox now. 8)
