Default Error: 403 Forbidden when uploading

I am running a new installation on a VPS server but cannot upload any videos, progress bar is active and reports Error: 403 Forbidden

Script was installed for me and rest seems fine. Example videos installed are really small just a few seconds - I have tried various formats and sizes from 6mb to 35mb with no success

Various options with .htaccess and php.ini added but these crash the server.

    Would like a 100% fix

May be it is CGI script (pl) which seems to run when upload runs.

Upload will continue while Error: 403 Forbidden shows and the upload will go into video folder on the server BUT not get catalgouted on the site or in admin so does not exist.

Any clever solutions please --- http://www.church-services-online.com/services

sounds like it could be a php.ini setting. See this thread where someone got this when their host changed the php on him:

If it's not fun, stop doing it!

I have concluded the php.ini and/or the .htaccess enteries are the problem.

The issue is that it seems, from reviewing other peoples problems and solutions hosting may bring its own demands and there is no universal fix for this or similar issues.

My hoster has given some useful tips but not any workable solution so the issue now waits on BuyScripts to solve the issue.

One query - where you add BOTH .htaccess and php.ini I assume they should be in the main folder for Vshare and nowhere else?

Also does .htaccess need to call the php.ini file. my hoster (in one try told me to create a .htaccess file with JUST this one line entry

suPHP_ConfigPath /home/churc40/httpdocs/ ( churc40 being my host ID and httpdocs for me but often htdocs or public_html in other hosts )

    Is this necessary?
