mass flv uploading

the uploaded videos usually end up in the 'import' folder under template_c directory. but it doesn't use the same name. anyway, my question is if I can use ftp to mass upload flv videos directly into the import folder or is there s conversion process that must precede it??

Just download them ( avi flv wmv e.t.c) and go to control panel Video Processing --> Import Folder
