Default [MOD] FLV pseudo-streaming with lighttpd

With lihttpd mod_flv, videos can be played from any position. By doing this, you can save bandwidth as users can skip to any part of the video and watch what they want.

    Requirements

    1) Dedicated or VPS with 1 free IP address
    2) JW Player
    3) vShare 2.7

    Demo

    http://myspicyclips.com/ (Adult site)

Installation charges will be $25 per server. Anyone interested, mail us at [email protected]

Even if you have to implement it into a heavily modified vShare like I run under www.youstunt.com?

Its true that lighttpd is the best for for video because it runs abit faster then apache also it is good because the streaming is setup as default, but apache can also do this streaming function, i have been using it over a year now and is it wonderful, you need to install an addon to apache server for this to work, its called apache_mod_flvx also you can do this for mp4 files too if you also install apache mod_h264_streaming

    hope that helps.

    Hi,

I am now on the process of transferring my whole site in a dedicated server, and ask my hosting company to install lighthttpd on the server, i just to know if this will work if my account has a differrent domain, (used as video server) but now i will put all the files in once server but of course it will hosted only in one dedicated server but different cpanel, my question is this will work on my server, i have 3 domains where my videos are uploaded, and my dedicated server has 5 IP address as mention by my webhosting company

    Regards,
    Mark

Actually installing lighttpd is quite easy and implementing mod sec download as well as mod flv streaming is not that really hard.

Beginners are advised to use this installation services. Else read my installation guide ^^

So the only benefit to this is that users can quote "skip to any part of the video"? - I've visited the demo site and attempted to do such, but to no avail, as when I clicked on a point in the video, it did not move, nor did I see a progress bar on the video, indicating a level of streamed content.

Perhaps I did something wrong though, who knows.
