Yeah, plus pretty much no one is using 14" monitors these days anyway. I'm leaving sgtv as more of a default template for the time being, but have another site that I do more design work on. Finally upgraded that one to 2.6 and going through to make adjustments now. On that site I pushed everything out to be 850 wide. On pages with a right column, I made that column 225 wide, which is just slightly wider, but seems to work well for now.
