Default Failed to connect to database server.

I am still unable to pass this point of installation. Everything should be set and ready to go. When running the install.php page and after I have created two separate databases, I am still getting the following error:

Failed to connect to database server. Please check the data and try again.
Error reported: Access denied for user 'kindness'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
    What am I doing wrong?

The simple answer is you are not connecting to the database (duh).
At the risk of stating the obvious, have you checked the exact name of the databases you created, is it on "localhost", and is your password any different to connect to a database, than it is to get into phpmyadmin.
I hope I'm not teaching granny to suck eggs ?
Are there any prefixes created before the database you named. An example is, you name your database "xyz" the database is created with your domain prefix along the lines of yourdomain_-_com_xyz

Your MySQL database is not set up properly.

Verify MySQL login details is proper.

You can try connect to your MySQL from http://phpmyadmin.hosthat.com and see if its working.

What control panel do you have ?

I gave that a little try... even copy/paste from the MySQL Maintence screen (just to make sure I'm not making some typos).

Yeah, its clear that its a DB connection prob. But I feel pretty stupid here. As if I forgot to take the cap off before adding gas... (not that I'd ever do that... God forbid! LOL)

Any more ideas? I know its something very simple I'm missing.

I am using cPanel and I have plenty of MySQL databases available on my hosting account.

Very cool... I will use that page to fix my login problems. That makes my life quite a bit easier. Thank you for that!

Have you fixed the problem ?

If you created a database in cpanel, user name will never look like - kindness

Cpanel user name will look like

    CPANELUSERNAME_USER

Thank you... Yes. I just fixed that problem after using the prefix in the user name as well as the database name. So, that did the trick!

Now I have a new error, but I will create a new post if I can't figure it out soon.
