Hi everyone. I couldn't find a thread with the answers for this so I'm hoping that someone will be able to help out. We're currently running a vShare version 2.6 with apx. 400 Clips that have been imported with VideoSwiper. In other words, there are only about 1 dozen clips that are actually physically present in our video portal and there are only a hand full of users too.
Now we've had a clean install of vShare 2.7 done on another domain since it'll take me several weeks to take care of all of the translations, custom settings, images, etc. When all is done, this new vShare 2.7 will be moved to the other domain in order to replace the older 2.6 version. As far as we can tell vShare 2.7 is running just fine (same server as 2.6).
Is it possible to transfer our old SQL db info. over to the new vShare version 2.7 which is located on that other domain? For this a simple yes or no should suffice ... unless it involves problems that I need to be aware of. We have our own root server with full ssh access ... but I'm not a server admin and I can't afford to pay a bunch of money every time that we need something done. I need to be able to do stuff like backups.
I don't have a problem paying a little something for useful advice that I can understand and then implement. But since our entire project (3 years and running) has been nothing but a volunteer effort by me, I just don't have a lot of money to throw around.
Also, does anyone know if it's possible to transfer all of our current clips, or rather copies thereof (physical clips and the ones from VideoSwiper too) to the new vShare 2.7 without losing any downtime? Our video portal doesn't have a whole lot of users yet but it's tied as a subdomain to a primary domain which receives in excess of 125.000 page hits per month. That's the whole reason why we had a clean install of 2.7 done, so that we can work with/on that while the current version is still up and running.
I'd sincerely appreciate any helpful information.
Thanks in advance. Greetings from Germany.
