ssh is a way to login to server command line if your server is located in remote location.

but i think it is ridiculous that can't use in normal hosting.

On normal hosting, you can't convert video into FLV fomat or create thumbnail.

Ask your web host/server admin if requirements are installed on the server. If not, it won't work.
