Delete all (video) contents in video directory

Hi,

Delete all (video) contents in video directory - feature request.

I'd like to see a delete option in admin section for the removal of all uploaded and processed video files located in the video directory - just a one click clear all option.

Reason: Once these files have been uploaded and processed into a flv format they just occupy space.... getting rid of them tidies up the website etc.

Of course an auto delete might also be an option... after the upload and process has taken place.

well if your like me and offer your visiters a download link to the original video due to it being higher quaility and easier to play back then you dont want them auto deleted :)

could see why some people wouldn't want them though....but deleting with an FTP client is easy enough

It is and it isn't easy.

I see your point and understand the need to have hi res available especially when it's a purchase option etc and the flv is just a "teaser" low res.

I think the option should be available to admin's who don't want to jump from the Admin section to the ftp and back.

out of interest why do you think its not easy to delete with an FTP client? i just connect, go to video directory, select all files and click delete. takes me 10 seconds :)

Ahhh :D so you noticed that one.

Okay, I'm looking at this problem from the point of view of Site Editors and not from the FTP access which a site administrator would have and is easy enough to use.

I would like to see the back office controls include a delete the video files as an option (uploaded video files in the video directory).

I use ftp all the time in site management...so I know how easy it is - just not suitable for what I have in mind... back office control at a click, just as many other functions are already.

Hi,

Here is the MOD you are after:

Download it and upload the folders to your server, overwrite where required.

The link for the delete page is at the bottom of the page next to the logout in the admin section.

Please note on clicking the link it will automatically delete all the files inside your video folder.

Alas poor Galnet... we knew him well, and now he's gone.

Hey Mat if you're not gone, would love to have this mod. I agree that there should be a link within the admin area for this function, because not everyone who manages vshare sites will necessarily have ftp access or know what to do with it. I for sure wouldn't give one of my employees the abillity to delete my entire site if they got pissed at me for some reason or other.
