Maybe they use different servers on the basic plan or something. I find nothing wrong with their server speed, either on my site or via ping. Support, on the other hand, is another story.
The plans are great, but support sucks - all they can do is try to get you to upgrade your plan rather than addressing a problem. If you complain about it though, your ticket will go straight to the top and get addressed. I think most of the problem with support is that English is a second language to them.
I'm sure there has got to be a better host out there, but for the average video sharing start up, cirtex works just fine.
