My traffic has skyrocketed... Why?

Hey guys,

I have been, very slowly, building my site over the past couple months.

Yesterday I noticed that I revieved a bandwith notice from my hosting provider.

I checked my AWstats and I had over 1,500 unique visitors yesterday. I usually get 80-100. When I look further I see that I have had 5,200 visits from unknown search engines this month. I also have over 5,000 keyword results for my keywords. And 72% has added me to their favorites list.

I was thinking that maybe this is "spam" or "bot" traffic? I'm not sure how to tell but then I checked my AdSense and noticed that I had over 150 clicks for yesterday alone also. So do bots click my adsense ads?

What do you all think? Is this bot traffic or did someone really spread the word about my site?

I doubt it is bot traffic clicking your google adsense. Sounds like good news anyway, I wish the same would happen to me :D
Check your stats, and see where your inbound links came from.

I hope maybe someone featured my site on their homepage or something. My traffic has died back down to just over 500 uniques for yesterday and I think I will have something less today.

As best I can tell the traffic came from an "unknown search engine", that is why I thought it to be bot traffic.

Yeah, there's something screwy with that statistic. Unless a lot of people are bookmarking several videos or something. Even then, I thought it's still suppose to only count once.

That is what I thought, however I didn't think of bookmarking sepereat videos.
