cropping on video

when i upload widescreen videos it crops out the sides, is there any way to make it either make top & bottom bar's or stretch or make a fixed aspect ratio by changing settings on ffmpeg/mencoder?

you can crop the size of the video by changing the wdith and height in the embed code.
