    It's working! :)

What I'd like to see is a notice somewhere that an email was sent to them right after signing up. Where it says:

    Welcome to vshareutubeclone.com, newuser!
We hope you enjoy your experience. Write anytime to let us know how we can serve you better.

    The VshareUtubeclone.com Team

The user has no idea that any email of any kind was sent to them at all. It doesn't ask them to verify their email until they go to upload something and not all users upload anything.

So, I added a notice about the email being sent to the invite_signup.tpl

And I got the verification email 3 times with 3 different verification links. Is anyone else getting the emails in duplicates?

I haven't reinstalled the script as yet because I don't like frustration. I haven't got feed back after sending the config file.

Default Restrict auto creation of account without mail confirm

    Hi there!
Nice script, use it since almost one month,no big problems, but ONE PROBLEM is very annoying for me: when someone signup for a site (as it was discussed here) user account is created automaticaly - WITHOUT checking if this mail address is valid...I need to be done - every user first MUST confirm email and then to go directly to member area...otherwise everyone signup with mail like: [email protected]...

Or other nice option is - everyone can signup with mail address, but after member see 5 videos already - member must be prompted to validate his mail address.

Please tell me what you think about this?
    Thanks!

    blogger,

Please tell me what you think about this?
OK, you asked so....Here's my thoughts (for what it's worth which is usually not much lol)

I guess one thing you can do is set it for no guest viewing in the admin panel and when you receive notification that you have a new user is to check their profile. If the email they use looks bogus, then just delete their account OR you can set it for "pay per view".

At this point your visitors have these options: keep signing up with bogus emails in order to keep viewing, pay to view, or go to someone else's website that doesn't have this requirement.

"keep signing up" to view is WORK so they'll probably go to someone else's website. Unless it's porn, they won't want to pay so they'll probably go to someone else's website. In essence, I think you'll be driving people away from your website.

Youtube doesn't force people to sign up, let alone verify an email, before viewing any videos so why you'd want to force people to do that, I don't understand (but then I don't have to it's not my site but yours and you can run it anyway you want to). The only reason I can think of for why any vshare admin would want to force people to verify an email, just to view videos, (unless it's a porn site) is to collect a list of emails for spamming or for a monthly newsletter. I pray it's not for spamming and not everyone is going to want a monthly newsletter. For uploading I can understand because if they put something that is contrary to the terms of service, you have something (even if it's little) to go on.

Porn sites ususally have a "pay first" which probably cures the email problem.

    Hello, grynmoors!
    Thanks for your answer!
I'd like to 'force' people to signup with real emails, cause my site isnt paid, and I want to make newsletter for my members, plus add some special bonuses for them. Otherwise, why should people become members and signup if they can see videos anyway?! What will be the difference between member and anonymous surfer?

At least it can be done - when someone signup to site, just to be informed on welcome page, that he have to verify his mail... Right now user dont even guess about he have to do this...

The difference between sign up member and viewer is that sign up member can post videos where the viewer can't.

Yeah, that golden tidbit of information really makes a huge difference.

Then again, like I said earlier, I don't have to understand, it's your site and you get to run it any way you want to.

Sounds like what you really need is like an art gallery type of script with something that has a login from the front page (just like a lot of forum scripts use, you have to login and verify your email before you can access the message board). Vshare script, I believe, is intended to be like youtube, which gives access to everyone until they want to interact with it (by uploading videos and posting to any message boards).

I think what you need is some kind of phpnuke website where you have to login to access the rest of the site, which is not the same as vshare's function, or I believe, what it's intended for but, I'm sure admin will correct me if I'm wrong.
